Birds Nest Sales Center: A Fusion of Nature and Architecture

Architect Kris Lin's Award-Winning Design Marries Oriental Garden Concepts with Modern Design

Immersed in the lush surroundings of Xi'an's Qujiang Park, the Birds Nest Sales Center, designed by Kris Lin, is a testament to the harmonious blend of nature and architecture. The design, inspired by the oriental garden concept, integrates natural landscape elements into the interior, creating a unique and immersive experience for visitors.

Located near Qujiang Park, the project is a tribute to the natural landscape. The design incorporates elements of the oriental garden, including bridges, flowing water, lotus, plum trees, and bird nests. The result is an interior landscape that reflects respect and inheritance for nature.

What sets this design apart is its seamless integration of the exterior garden into the interior design. The floor was raised to accommodate water treatment systems, and a waterscape was established within the interior space, a feat that posed a significant challenge. The result is a tranquil and serene environment that blurs the line between the indoors and outdoors.

The centerpiece of the design is the bird's nest concept applied to the VIP room on the third floor. A 3D model was used to establish the basic shape of the bird's nest, and stainless steel was crafted into different curving lines to form a stable structure. This innovative use of materials and design techniques resulted in a space that is both individual and integrated into the overall design.

The Birds Nest Sales Center, spanning 1200 square meters, was completed in Nantong, China, in 2018. The project is a testament to Lin's innovative approach to design and his ability to blend natural elements with modern design techniques. The design has garnered recognition, winning the Silver A' Construction and Real Estate Projects Design Award in 2019.

Through the Birds Nest Sales Center, Kris Lin demonstrates the potential of architecture to respect and enhance the natural environment. The project serves as an inspiration for future designs that seek to harmonize the built environment with nature.
